Individual Counseling Approach
The best way to describe what it is like in an individual counseling session here at SCCC would be to expect: The perfect blend of psycho-educational, experiential, client centered, solution-focused therapy based on your worldview and the people/places/beliefs (systems) that you interact with on a day to day basis.  Using traditional talk therapy, combined with exercises, role play, and your willingness for change we collaborate on solutions aimed to meet your needs.  It’s important to us that whether you attend 1 or 500 sessions, that you learn something new in every session either about yourself, the world of therapy, or the world in general. Your time and money are precious commodities and we will not waste them.
Staying Connected Counseling Center Approach to Therapy
We know reaching out to strangers for help can be daunting, and finding the right fit can have a significant impact on your therapeutic experience.  As we want to provide you with the best possible service, we would like to share our approach to therapy and how we help you connect.
Couples Counseling Approach
Our work with couples is based on the empirically validated, research based therapy principles of Drs. John and Julie Gottman.  Gottman Method Couple's Therapy is based on over 40 years of research which shows that to make a relationship last, couples must become better friends, learn to manage conflict, and create ways to support each other’s hopes for the future. Drs. John and Julie Gottman have shown how couples can accomplish this by paying attention to what they call the Sound Relationship House, or the nine components of healthy relationships.  Let's stat the journey towards creating your sound relationship house and a renewed, passionate, relationship built on a foundation of friendship and intimacy.
Family Counseling Approach
Communication is a key enabler to healthy relationships, and we have found the same to be true within family systems. From parenting concerns, to sibling rivalries, and all steps in between we approach our work with families much like our other areas except we have the ability to hear fist hand from all parties involved versus one persons narrative of the situation. Our work with families centers around understanding the system as a whole and how each individual fits (or doesn't fit) into it. Using family maps to help document the interactions and relationships within the family, patterns of communication and how those patterns are manifested across as many as one or more generations, the therapist is able to engage the entire family in dialogue and begin the process of becoming aware of the intergenerational interactions and communications that have influence on the family.

Together we will build new rituals for connection, charter new ways to communicate, and find fun playful ways to connect as a stronger family unit.
